Here you will find details of Census and other record information for Beggan/Beagan and related families. I have gathered quite a bit of information and will add it over time, as i come across it.

Catherine Beggan was the wife of Patrick Beggan of Greaghawarren, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh. From documentation in her death records, her parents were John and Sarah Quigley. In May 1896 she left Ireland, and her husband, to go to America. I don't know the reason for her leaving.

When Catherine (Quigley) Beggan immigrated to Rhode Island, USA, on the 22nd May 1896, she was going to stay with her son Patrick and daughters Ellen and Ann. She was travelling with two more of her children, Thomas (aged 19) and Maggie (aged 15). It doesn't give an address they are going to, only Providence, R.I.

In 1899, 1900, 1901 and 1902, according to the Providence City Directory, Patrick and Thomas Beagan were living at 191 O'Connell Street in Providence.

In the 1900 Census for Providence, Patrick Beagan was living at 191 O'Connell Street with his wife, Mary J, his son, Edward J, and his mother, Catherine. According to the census Patrick and Mary J (Cosgrove) had come to the US in 1895. *Mary J (Cosgrove) was born on 20th Aug 1872 at Corbane, Roslea, Co. Fermanagh to Peter Cosgrove and Mary Anne (McCluskey)*

In the 1900 US Census I found an Ellen Beagan living at 100 Venton Street with a William Clark and his family. Ellen was listed as servant. It gives a birth year of 1868 which matches my Ellen.

Ann Beagan (my gg aunt) - Married John Clark (Clerkin). One of their children was Mary K (or C) born 1909. Mary married a man called Francis A Sieweck on 12th Sept 1932. Mary died about 1976.

I found this passenger list for a John Clark going to Providence in 1910. This could be the same John Clark (Clerkin) who married my gg aunt Ann Beagan. It lists his father as Owen Clark of Rosslea.

In 1911, according to the City Directory, Catherine's son Patrick Beagan was living at 166 South Street in Providence. This is the same address given by Thomas Peter Beagan in 1916 when he was applying for a passport in order to visit his family in Ireland.

According to a death record found by my cousin Ron Beagan, Catherine (Quigley) Beggan's parents were John and Sarah Quigley. I have not yet been able to find out which Quigley family Catherine was from.

John Beagan and Ellen (Cosgrove) Beagan - John was the son of my gg aunt, Bridget Beggan and John Beggan (son of Bernard Beggan of Knocknalear, Roslea). Ellen was the sister of the Mary J who married my gg uncle Patrick Beagan. She was from Corbane, Roslea. Below are the addresses they were living at, at various times.

1905 - 4 Lake Street, Providence (from Providence City Directory)

1906-1908 - 107 Point Street (from Providence City Directory)

1910 - Pont Street, Providence *probably Point Street* (from 1910 US Census)

1920 - Point Street, Providence (from 1920 US Census)
