Sarah McMorran was born on 28th November 1856, in Ballynagarrick, I think to Joseph McMorran, son of John, of Ballynagarrick and Susan Pepper, daughter of Edward, (originally from Lurgan, Parish of Shankill, Co. Armagh). She was the eldest of 10 children. She married William McConville on 25th January 1884 at Newmills Presbyterian Church, Tullylish, Co. Down and had 9 children, John, Joseph, Mark, Tom Bill, Ellen, Margaret, Mary, Sarah and Susan. Her mother and father were married about 15th July 1858 also in the Newmills Presbyterian Church, Tullylish, Co. Down.
Sarah and her husband, William, came to live in the Mill Row in Tandragee at some point. The Mill Row was a row of cottages that housed the workers of Sinton's Flax Mill, townland of Tullyhugh. They were certainly living there in 1912, when they signed the Ulster Covenant and declaration. They lost 2 sons, John and Joseph to the first World War, John on 1st July 1916 and Joseph possibly on 17th August 1916. Sarah's husband died about 28th April 1931 and a year later, in April 1932, her son Mark died of double pneumonia or pleurisy. Another of her children died, possibly Tom Bill, before she died on 7th April 1961 at 104 years old.
Below is a newspaper clipping with the story of my Great Grannie, Sarah McConville (nee McMorran) when she reached 101 years old.
