1925 - 1977

John McConville was born on 26th August 1925. It is not known to me whether he was born around Dublin, like his brother, Mark, or if he was born in Tandragee but he, along with his brothers and sister moved back to Roslea, Co. Fermanagh in approx. 1932 and was sent into a Catholic convent for a time. He was a big strong boy and man and noticeably much bigger than the others and even his older brother, Mark. He was nicknamed "The Brown Bomber" by some in Roslea. I'm not sure why but I remember an older lady, Mrs Goodwin, telling my sister and I while we were over on holiday.  He too, came to live and work in England as well as Mark, Joseph and my father (Ernest) but, in 1955, he decided to emigrate to Australia and travelled, by boat, ending up in Brisbane, Queensland. He met and married a lady called Ivy (nee ?) and that's where he remained until his death, from heart attack on 10th Nov 1977 (aged just 52). His wife, Ivy, had died six months earlier.
